With more than four decades of experience in the surety and insurance industry, John R. Van Bokkelen, Jr. has built a distinguished career founded on expertise, entrepreneurship, and an unwavering commitment to serving his clients.

John began his career in the field of business law and surety in 1988, when he succeeded his father as Branch Manager of Bonding Service, Inc., overseeing its Northern California operations. Less than a year later, he founded Van Bokkelen Bonds & Insurance Agency, establishing a company that would expand its services throughout California and develop a strong reputation within the state's bonding and insurance industry.

In November 1998, Van Bokkelen Bonds & Insurance Agency acquired the Phil Simpson Agency, a respected Oakland-based firm with nearly a century of experience in the surety business. The acquisition further strengthened the agency's position and contributed to substantial growth throughout California.

As the agency continued to expand, John played a leading role in the development of a proposed statewide consolidation involving three competing Southern California bonding agencies. In 2002, the companies joined together to create a comprehensive, statewide bonding organization, with John becoming a partner in the newly formed enterprise. He remained an active partner for many years before ultimately making the difficult decision to sell his ownership interest to his existing partners.

In January 2026, John returned to his entrepreneurial roots and reopened Van Bokkelen Bonds & Insurance Agency. Bringing with him decades of experience and an in-depth understanding of the increasingly sophisticated and complex insurance and surety marketplace, John is once again building an agency dedicated to providing knowledgeable, responsive, and personalized service.

Today, Van Bokkelen Bonds & Insurance Agency is expanding its reach with the goal of serving clients in every county throughout California. John attributes the agency's continued growth and success to the dedication, professionalism, and hard work of his exceptional staff.

With a career spanning more than 40 years, John's philosophy remains straightforward: experience matters, relationships matter, and keeping your word matters. His commitment to those principles continues to guide Van Bokkelen Bonds & Insurance Agency as it enters its next chapter of growth and service.

Michael Evey brings a diverse background in communication, business operations, customer service, and legal-office administration to his professional career.

Michael earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, with a concentration in Applied Ethics, from California State University, Sacramento, in 2007. He subsequently earned a Master of Arts in Communication from Gonzaga University in 2010, further developing his expertise in communication, interpersonal relations, and professional problem-solving.

From 2010 through 2016, Michael worked for Apple, Inc., where he developed extensive experience in sales and customer service. During his tenure, he also managed a repair and service department, gaining valuable experience in department operations, team coordination, customer relations, and resolving complex service issues.

In 2016, Michael joined the Law Offices of Tosh Yamamoto, where he worked through 2026. His experience in a legal-office environment provided him with additional exposure to professional administrative operations, client service, organization, and the demands of working within a law practice.

Michael's academic background in philosophy and applied ethics, combined with his advanced training in communication and more than a decade of professional experience across technology, customer service, management, and legal environments, gives him a well-rounded and thoughtful approach to working with clients and professional organizations.

As Regional Manager for the San Francisco Bay Area, Cade L. Van Bokkelen brings a client-first approach, high operational standards, and deep dedication to the surety and insurance industry. Representing the third generation of the Van Bokkelen family in bonding, Cade is committed to carrying forward a multi-generational legacy of integrity while driving the agency's growth across Northern and Southern California.

Cade earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Before stepping into his leadership role at Van Bokkelen Bonding Agency, he built valuable experience in relationship-driven client service and sales management as a Membership Coordinator at Equinox. That background honed his ability to understand client needs quickly, communicate with precision, and deliver tailored solutions in high-demand environments.

Today, Cade oversees all bonding operations throughout the entire San Francisco Bay Area. He works closely with attorneys, fiduciaries, and business professionals to deliver efficient, knowledgeable, and reliable surety services tailored to each client's unique requirements.
